Sheharyar has not come to the Masjid for some time,
and when he goes, an elder member greets him by
saying ‘where have you been; I haven’t seen you coming
for a while.’

I know if I was in Sheharyar's shoes, I'd feel really embarrassed if someone asked me that. Obviously he should start coming to the Masjid more but it shouldn't be forced. The desire to come to the Masjid should come to him. I don't think anyone should be forced to come to the Masjid. If they don't want to, it's their loss.
